In 10 words or less: Wall Street is the epicenter of the financial world.

Definition: The place in lower Manhattan where the New York Stock Exchange is located. It's the center of the investment world in the US.

StockJargon Advice: Wall Street is where everything happens. It's where all the big investment banks (Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, etc.) are headquartered.

It got its name because New York City used to have a wall around it.

Commonly referred to as "the Street."
