Shareholder
Term category: Stocks
In 10 words or less:  A person who owns shares in a company or mutual fund.

Definition: A person who owns at least one share of stock. Can also be referred to as a "stockholder."

StockJargon Advice: A shareholder represents someone who owns part of the company. Even if you own just 1 share of stock in General Electric (for example), you still own part of the company.

Shareholders have voting rights and they profit when the company does well.
