Definition: A detailed financial statement that shows all of the revenue and expenses of a company.

StockJargon Advice: The income statement gives investors a sense of the breakdown for the most recent quarter or year for a company. It details the amount of money the company made and where the money came from.

The income statement outlines all the money the company made (revenues) and all the money they had to pay out (expenses).
